Identification

Electric green body, golden crown, chestnut and black mask, blue-black bib. One of the most dazzling tanagers in the Neotropics. Joins mixed-species flocks in mid-elevation cloud forest.

Where to see it

Finca Alejandría (Km 18 above Cali), Otún Quimbaya (Pereira), occasionally at Finca El Colibrí Gorriazul. Mid-morning and mid-afternoon in fruiting trees.

Status

Vulnerable (IUCN). Habitat fragmentation threatens its mid-elevation cloud forest belt.
